General Committee

What's your day job?
I am a Principal Planner in the Statutory Planning Unit at the City of Darebin and have been with the council for 5 years.

How long have you been involved in planning?
I entered the profession back in 1996 but I did take a 5 year break to work in web development before returning in 2003.

Do you wear any other planning hats / have any other planning-related pastimes?
I am co-editor of Planning News and between this, WPN and my day job, I don't have time for much else!

What's your number 1 pet planning issue?
Cheap and nasty developments which are poorly designed and poorly constructed but which 'tick' the planning policy boxes - once they're up, we're stuck with them for a long time!

Why did you join the WPN committee?
My friend Lecki Ord (former president) had been nagging me to join for ages! I ultimately decided to join to expand my horizons in the profession and make some new friends.

What is your main goal as a WPN committee member?
To ensure that WPN remains a vibrant and relevant organisation to women in planning.

Name your favourite urban space in Victoria and your favourite wide open space.
Favourite urban space would have to be Federation Square and favourite wide open space is Mt Buffalo National Park.

What is your favourite coffee shop / bar?
Pellegrini's in the city. My Dad used to go there in the 50's when he was a young italian bloke looking for a slice of home - the decor hasn't changed much since then! It might not make the absolute best coffee or best food, but the place just tickles my Italian DNA!

Where do you see WPN heading in the next 12 months?
I see WPN having a more influential and louder voice in the planning 'world' by strenghtening its alliance with DPCD. WPN's members will hopefully start to see much higher profile events and connections with other planning groups.
