What's your day job?
I am an Associate at SJB Planning, and have been with the company for 6 years.
How long have you been involved in planning?
Too long to remember, however my first student position was at the ‘City of Prahran’ if that is any indication! (since 1994)
Do you wear any other planning hats / have any other planning-related pastimes?
The President of WPN!
What's your number 1 pet planning issue?
Encouraging planners to stay in the profession and to explore their professional development throughout the private and public sectors.
Why did you join the WPN committee?
To make a contribution to the local planning profession and to ensure that the voices of women are heard, through the organization of learning opportunities and networking events and to also to contribute, via WPN’s research and website, to the global planning network that is linked by the world wide web.
What is your main goal as a WPN committee member?
To build and strengthen the Women’s Planning Network as a significant contributor to the understanding of how planning and societal issues affect women within the environment, both in their professional capacities (such as career advancement and work/life balance) and as communities (such as housing affordability, service accessibility, environmental sustainability).
Name your favourite urban space in Victoria and your favourite wide open space.
My favourite urban space (which is a very green space) is the Royal Botanic Gardens, throughout the year as the seasons change and throughout the day and night, when you can enjoy sunrises, sunsets and the stars at night.
My favourite wide open space is Victoria’s coastline – still largely untamed and wild.
What is your favourite coffee shop / bar?
Mart 130 at the Middle Park Railway Station.
A bar with good stemware, so you can really enjoy the wine you're drinking!
Where do you see WPN heading in the next 12 months?
Over the next 12 months WPN’s committee will grow to include a good mix of women professionals and its consolidation will enable the WPN to re-commence the ‘m2M’ Mentoring Program, to offer and judge the Rising Star scholarship, to complete our research in the history of women in planning and of course, to promote the role of women in planning through our networking events, publication of ‘Vantage’ and our collaboration with allied professional groups.
