What's your day job?
Principal Urban Designer at SM Urban, an urban development consulting firm in Queen Road, Melbourne.
How long have you been involved in planning?
About 10 years (which is a scary thought)!
Do you wear any other planning hats / have any other planning-related pastimes?
Other than WPN, not really.
What's your number 1 pet planning issue?
Lack of early development of infrastructure in new growth areas - people should not have to establish their homes before services arrive.
Why did you join the WPN committee?
After being involved in the mentoring program, I always felt that WPN was a group that could provide a lot to the planning profession, and I thought that it was a great opportunity for me to get involved in planning more broadly.
What is your main goal as a WPN committee member?
My main goal is to ensure that we contribute to the profession - whether it be by holding interesting events, conducting important research, or just debaing issues at committee meetings over a glass of wine!
Name your favourite urban space in Victoria and your favourite wide open space.
My favourite urban space in Melbourne is the Block Arcade - it is always active and interesting.
My favourite wide open space is the Royal Botanic Gardens or the Yea Wetlands (a bit of a family favourite).
What is your favourite coffee shop / bar?
My favourite bar is Phoenix in Flinders St, and favourite coffee shop is my daily supplier, Krave on St Kilda Road.
Where do you see WPN heading in the next 12 months?
Onto bigger and better things of course - establishing great links with other planning groups and putting outrselves at the forefront of the profession.
